Hey family,
How is everyone doing? I was hoping to hear about how the interviews went with Doug and Kyle.
Thanks for the letter, Sue. That`s great that Ellis got married.
Dad, actually, Hna Zapeta is from Chimaltenango. Hna Silva is from the city. Thanks for your letters and Happy Father`s Day.
Mom, you look skinny. Thanks for the packages! I had a great birthday.
In fact it was so great that it kind of weirded me out a little. I
figured you all must have been praying for me, because it was a really
good day.
Paul, nice to hear from you!
Sorry I`m out of time, but I love you all and I hope everything is going well!
The addiction class went really well. We invited people Thursday night
with Hno Beteta, the teacher. Three people told us that they would
come. And they all came! We had 9 people there. two families that we
are teaching, Noel and Roberta and Enrique and Olga. also, a less
active, Daniel came. Plus there were kids there. It was great! There
are a lot of people that need help.
We went with Enrique yesterday and talked about baptism a lot. We
didn´t have a plan for what we were going to talk about, but we started
asking him the baptism interview questions and it came out that he has
doubts about Joseph Smith and why there is only one true church. So, we
talked about the book of mormon, and we reminded him of how felt one
day when he was reading. He started talking again and said, I felt a
great peace that day. I felt something joyful come over me. We asked
him if he thought those came from Satan. And he thought for a second or
two and said, no. So, we talked a lot about the book of mormon. And
we put a baptism date for the 30th of June. He´s going to pray about
it.
People have a lot of sins, and they really need to repent and be
baptized. If they don´t repent or get baptized, we don´t do anything.
We got a new branch president yesterday!!!!! he is excited to work.
Yesterday he went to visit one of our investigators with one of our less
actives. Sweet! The attendance yesterday was 72. That`s about 15
people more this week! Yay!
This Friday we went to Managua to listen to President Maynes with the
North mission. I talked to Hna Zapeta and that was really nice. I miss
her! She told me that Claudia and Enrique had their baby! President
Monestel asked us if things in La Borgoña are getting better. I really
didn´t know what to say, because I don´t feel like we´ve done very much
and we haven´t seen a difference. But yesterday after talking with
Enrique and a less active I felt like we have done something. The Borgoña is better now. And it will get better. We are working more
with members and the members are getting excited. Last night with
Douglas and Juana I felt perfectly happy, because he is happy becuase he
is sharing the gospel. He hasn´t gone to church since I´ve been here,
but now he wants to help someone else go to church. He said he´s going
to the fellowship night this Wednesday with the reference and he and
Juana are also going to go to the addiction class this friday.
We now have a working hammock in the house
Thursday some men with
fumigating masks and fumigators (that looked like bazookas, not that I
actually know what a bazooka looks like) came to the borgoña to
fumigate. Needless to say, our companionship study was slightly
interrupted. The cockroaches came out. We killed three and one of them
was a monster. Fun times! :)
Hna Silva played one of the primary birthday songs for me when I woke
up and then sang me las mananitas. We changed our lunch appointment, so
now we eat with a member and all the kids told me felicidades. That
was fun. WE bought mamones from some kids on the street. Hna Zapeta
called me and sang me las mananitas with Yeri and hna Xiomara. that
night Hna Narvaez had a cake (cake is a big deal here) and a nice
dinner. They sang las mananitas again. I love that song. It was a
good day.
Thanks for writing me. I love you all!
Love, Mb
